After the success of the all-women relay team in the Ironman Camsur, BLSS coaches takes on the individual category, debuting at the 5th leg of the Speedo National Age Group Triathlon in Ayala, Alabang last October 16, 2011.
BLSS COO Angelo Lozada, Board Member Mon Sarinas and Program Manager Hazel Garcia, together with coaches Berna Narag (St. Stephen’s), JS Sampan (Alabang Gators), Luica Dacanay (PCA Stingray), Roland Sarmiento (Ace Seawolves), Jeff Lao (Ace Seahawks) and Popoy Hipolito (Seton Saints); took on the Super Mini and Mini Sprint categories of the said event.
In preparation for the event, the coaches immersed in a consistent program composed of swim, bike and run workouts, as well as, nutrition guidance under ace nutritionist Harvie de Baron and strengthening workout under BLSS strength trainer, Remyr Angeles and Philip Roxas.
Dacanay and Garcia finished at 1st and 3rd respectively in the Super Mini Sprint women’s overall, while Sampan finished 3rd in the Mini Sprint men’s overall.
By and large, BLSS’ debut into the tri scene was a success, eyeing next the Speedo NAGT at UPLB in December. -KF
